Lignum Sonus, Latin for "sound tree," is an interactive electroacoustic sound sculpture. The aim of this piece is to create an accessible, hands-on experience for anyone, regardless of previous musical study or preconceived notions of traditional instruments. Chordophones, membranophones, and idiophones are presented in such a way as to allow players to discover new sounds in new ways in a communal setting; to facilitate the spirit of sonic exploration, togetherness, and co-creation.
In collaboration with artist Kevin Gilmore, Lignum Sonus premiered at the 2018 Dusklit interactive art festival in Sugar Loaf, NY.
